Played as a handicap competition from 1984/85 season.

This beautiful trophy lay forgotten for many years in a cupboard at the Co-op Hall on Bridge Street, Bolton, the Headquarters of the Bolton Sunday Schools Social League.
It re-surfaced when the organisation (now the Bolton Sports Federation) was asked to remove its remaining artefacts from these premises.
The Hockey League added the names Reynolds (Bertha Reynolds) and Cowell (Tommy Cowell),
both of whom had been longstanding supporters and Presidents of the League,
and brought it back into service for an end-of-season handicap tournament.
